Run Course Motion Based Run Map

The Great Illini starts with a 2.4 Mile – two loop Clockwise Swim in Lake Mattoon.  The end of the first loop will be in 3-4 feet of water, competitors will not need to exit the water, but will have the chance to put their feet down and get their bearings if necessary before tackling the second loop.

The bike course of the Great Illini is two 56 mile loops on quiet country roads.  Each loop has 2 moderate hills to climb.  There will be aide stations every 14 miles on the bike.  There will be a porta-john at each aide station.  The aide stations will be stocked with fruit, Hammer Gels, E-Caps, water, Heed energy drink and much more.  Competitors will have the opportunity to access their bike course special needs bag on after the first loop.

The 26.2 mile run course will be divided into 4 6.55 mile loops.  Competitors will have the opportunity to access their run course special needs bags every 6.55 miles.  There will be aide stations and porta-johns every mile of the run course.  The aide stations will be stocked with fruit, Hammer Gels, E-Caps, water, Heed energy drink and much more.

The Great Illini Half Iron Distance Triathlon will be half of the Iron Distance course.
